As someone with Brooklinen aspirations but not Brooklinen money, I’ve made it my mission to own the softest, most absorbent bath towels I can find for a reasonable price (as in, not over $50 for a set, thank you). I’m pretty sure I’ve hit gold with my American Soft Linen towels — and in my opinion, you should jump on these ASAP, as a six-pack is under just $40 at Target, Amazon and Walmart!
Reviewers say these towels are “definitely worth every penny they cost.”
They’re currently the top bestsellers in Amazon’s bath towel sets category and have earned a 4.4-star average across more than 71,000 ratings on Amazon. (If you are getting these at Amazon, you can save a couple extra dollars in the white color by clipping the on-page coupon.) Over at Target and Walmart, the set is similarly beloved, with a 4.6-star average rating.
Made with 100% cotton and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, the six-piece set includes two washcloths, two hand towels and two bath towels. It’s available in a bunch of different colors.
I can vouch for them being soft and fluffy after a machine wash and dry — you may deal with some lint and fuzzies after the first wash or two, but by now, I haven’t seen lint in the dryer in months and the towels remain soft and durable. I get excited to use these after I take them out of the dryer — after a shower, they’re like a warm hug, and the soft fabric feels nice and gentle against my sensitive skin.
The towels have drawn favorable comparisons to more expensive brands, too.
“The color is gorgeous, the texture feels super luxurious for the price point (and I’ve purchased some EXPENSIVE towels in the past *cough* Brooklinen *cough*),” one reviewer gushed. “I love these towels so much that I’m honestly considering getting rid of what we have now and replacing them all with these. They’re that good and soft.”
I will note that some reviews mention some shedding and lint, but this appears to be more prevalent in the black color. I personally haven’t encountered this (my towels are lilac), and other reviewers who bought them in different colors don’t appear to be reporting this problem with anywhere near the same frequency, so just a heads up if you were planning to buy these in black.
If you’ve been eyeing expensive towels but just can’t bite the bullet because of the price tag, give these towels a chance. And check out some more promising reviews for this set below.

You DO have to wash them at least twice before using them, preferably by themselves. There will be lint. It’s ok, these towels are just shy of the towels of your dreams. Soft, large, fluffy and thick. They pick up a lot of water but release it eaily in the washcloths. They don’t take a miilion years to dry. And the color, it didn’t look quite right when I opened them up. Then I washed them. Twice. The color changed. And they’re EXACTLY what I wanted. I’m back for bath sheets!” — T. Semonik
